"Snow-Klahoma!" is the twentieth episode of the second season (and seventy-second episode overall) of Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. It premiered on December 3, 2014.

Synopsis[]

Randy purposely leaves the Nomicon at school so Ninja-ing won’t ruin his trip with Howard to Snow-klahoma.

Plot[]

The episode opens with Randy and Howard excitedly watching an ad for the premiere opening of Snow-Kahoma, a winter-themed snow park. They list all the exhilarating rides the park has to offer, with one ride called "Snow-Way Out" catching their attention, stated to be the world's highest vertical sled drop. As the school day ends, the rest of the students rush outside the building. Randy follows suit but is yanked to a stop by Howard, who grabs Randy's satchel bag and fishes out the Nomicon. Randy is worried and asks Howard what he's doing. Howard explains that the Nomicon always ruins their fun every time, so he decides to leave the book inside Randy's locker. Randy tries to convince Howard that it might not happen again, but Howard questions whether Randy is asking him or telling him. Randy clarifies that he's telling him, and Howard directs him to tell it to the Nomicon. Randy does so and retrieves the Nomicon from his locker to "shloopms" in a bathroom stall.

Inside the Nomicon, Randy attempts to make a case for himself, stating that he has consistently performed well as the Ninja and has earned an afternoon off. He then asks if the Nomicon is okay with staying in his locker. In response, the Nomicon gives Randy the lesson:

"A Ninja's Choices Must Be Chosen By His Own Choosing."

Randy excitedly interprets this to mean that the choice is up to him, and he chooses to go through with his plan. Meanwhile, Julian walks into the same bathroom and sees his reflection in the mirror talking to him. The reflection asks Julian to extend his hand into the mirror, which he hesitantly does so, but his evil self forcefully clasps his hand and begins pulling him to the other side. Julian fights against this and manages to escape, flying backward and crashing into Randy, who had just "vloomped" out of the Nomicon. Julian tries to explain what had just happened, but Randy mistakes his ramblings for having difficulties in the toilet. Julian starts crying, which attracts the attention of the Sorcerer, who notices something unusual, he calls it as 'a new player has entered', referring to Evil Julian. The Sorcerer sends his stank from the pipes towards Julian, but Randy quickly intervenes upon noticing the green stank. He immediately evacuates Julian out of the bathroom, foiling the Sorcerer's scheme.

Randy then meets up with Howard in the hallway. Initially, Howard believes that the Nomicon said "no," but Randy corrects him, saying it said "yes," as he places his satchel in his locker. Howard is excited and ready to leave until he notices Julian hugging Randy's feet. Randy explains that he can't leave Julian at the school, fearing that he might get stanked. Thus, Randy chooses to bring Julian along with them to Snow-Kahoma, much to Howard's annoyance. Howard blames Randy for ruining their fun, shifting the blame from the Nomicon to him. Randy tries to persuade Howard that Julian won't hinder their fun, but it becomes immediately disproven as Julian fails to sync well with the boys. With the addition of a third person, their bobsled crashes, and Julian's paranoia results in them losing the snowball fight. Julian's lack of self-awareness and belief that they are all having fun further annoy Randy and Howard. Howard continuously tells Randy that they should ditch Julian, and Randy starts to think that it was a bad decision to bring him along. This feeling strengthens when Julian throws balls of dandruff at them and then jumps on Randy, joyfully asking him to carry him. This seems to be the tipping point for Randy, as he conceives a plan to abandon Julian in an ice mirror maze attraction.

The boys trick Julian into entering the maze, and while he's distracted by the cool environment, Howard and Randy walk ahead of him and leave through the exit, leaving him all alone. Surrounded by mirrors, Julian becomes vulnerable to Evil Julian, who immediately takes advantage of the situation and switches places with his good counterpart, bringing him to the human realm and leaving Julian in the Land of Shadows. Meanwhile, Randy and Howard wait in line for Snow-Way Out, the vertical sled drop. An incident occurs in the ice mirror maze, and a stanked Julian monster erupts from the building, now adopting a white color scheme. Randy springs into action to defeat the monster but finds it much more difficult than usual. He can't figure out what object is held dear and mistakenly thinks it's the top hat. Consulting the Nomicon is not an option as Randy realizes he left it in his locker. Randy then understands the true meaning of the lesson that he was the one who chose to listen to Howard, when he chooses to leave the Nomicon and ditch Julian. Despite realizing his mistake, the Ninja is still unable to defeat the monster. As they continue fighting, the climax is reached when the monster nearly falls into a machine that freezes objects that go inside it. The Ninja tries to prevent this by catching the monster with his scarf, but the monster's weight proves to be too much. However, the monster suddenly reverts back into Julian without destanking. This leaves the Ninja confused as he pulls Julian back up to safety with ease this time. Both Randy and Howard are further confused by Julian's strange behavior and pass it off as Julian just being himself without realizing that this is actually Evil Julian.

Evil Julian eerily thanks the Ninja before entering a tram and leaving Howard and the Ninja in confusion. Toward the end of the episode, Howard and Randy return to the school and Randy's locker. The Nomicon is loudly buzzing, flashing, and slamming against the door. Randy tries to calm the Nomicon down by rocking it in his arms and engaging in "baby talk." He assures the Nomicon that he will make choices based on his own choosing, while an uncomfortable Howard watches. As the two boys walk away from the locker, they pass by a mirror and fail to notice Julian briefly appearing in the mirror, trapped on the other side, crying for help. Meanwhile, Evil Julian is seen walking through the night's streets, eerily whistling the show's theme song as the streetlights switch off as he passes by them. The screen fades to black, ending the episode on an ominous tone.

Trivia[]

  • The title is based on the 1943 musical Oklahoma!
  • This episode and "Happy Hanukkah, Howard Weinerman" were premiered for Disney XD's Holiday Log Jam.
  • At one point Randy carves a 9 into the ice, a parody of the "Figure 8," a compulsory figure performed by ice skaters.
  • Evil Julian makes his second appearance, freeing himself from and trapping Julian in the Land of Shadows.
    • Also at the end of this episode, Evil Julian whistles the theme song as he walks down the sidewalk.
  • In the storyboards, it is revealed that Randy originally was just upset by Julian instead of being annoyed.
    • Also Randy's hoodie was originally to be unzipped, instead of having been zipped as in the episode.
  • This is one of the very rare instances where the Sorcerer failed to stank a victim. It also shows that people who are taken away from the stank's vicinity will cause the stank to fizzle out.
  • The journalism media The New England Journal of Pain and Suffering is introduced in this episode.
