"Rise of the Planet of the Robo-Apes" is the twenty-ninth episode of the first season of Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. It premiered on July 13, 2013.

Synopsis[]

Randy and Howard are eager to ride a new roller coaster but first, the Ninja must stop a Robo-Ape uprising.

Plot[]

Randy as the Ninja has to deal with hordes of Robo-Apes, who keep being harassed verbally and physically by McFist. Right after the Robo-Ape fight, Randy barely manages to not miss the Barf-a-Centauri rollercaoster, which McFist is holding a grand opening for, and having Neil Apestrong as their guest. However, because of the Ninja telling the Robo-Apes to fight back during their fight, Doc Matrix, who is the leader of the Robo-Apes decides to lead an uprising all over Norrisville by applying Strike Mode.

After being forced to pay for Howard's snacks, Randy, Howard and many others get onto the rollercoaster. With the Robo-Ape uprising, however, their ride is grind to a halt. It turns out that Viceroy implemented strike modes for the apes due to self dissatisfaction towards McFist, who blames him for the uprising, while Howard is crossed at Randy's actions for ruining the ride, before Randy and McFist both head off to deal with the Robo-Apes. Howard then asks Neil Apestrong to sign his butt as many others leave the paused ride.

Ninja then attempts to negotiate with the rioting apes so he can fulfill Howard's wish, and that the apes can strike after the rollercaoster ride is over. Unfortunately, his efforts are thwarted by McFist's intervention, which only provokes the apes into applying ape mode and thus going feral, putting other civilians in danger and rampaging the entire town. While Ninja is dealing with the ape shenanigans, McFist destroys the controller for the rollercaoster, so Viceroy has to repair the controller on a crunch under Howard's pleas and pestering.

After being thrashed around, Ninja finally realizes McFist is the crux of the ape revolution, and he has to make McFist apologize to the feral apes. At first, McFist is adamant on denying his fault, but after seeing Marci being endangered, he relents on the turbulent rollercaoster ride. But the feral apes actually can't understand his language and still goes nuts, until Ninja asks for Neil Apestrong to translate McFist's words for the apes. The Robo-Apes finally accept McFist's apology, and all of them return to their positions.

In the end, Ninja thanks Apestrong for the help, and retreats. McFist forces Viceroy, who has finally finished repairing the rollecoaster's controller, to remove all the modes for the Robo-Apes, minus the "brownie hound suck-up mode". Randy then returns from his Ninja duties, and despite Howard still being infuriated at his best friend for having the turn first and almost ruining the enjoyment for the ride earlier, the boys finally get to have a great time on the rollercoaster as Howard gets to puke as he wishes.

Trivia[]

  • The title refers to the film Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the 2011 reboot of the original "Planet of the Apes" series from the Sixties.
  • This is the second appearance of Neil Apestrong.
  • This is the third time the NinjaNomicon doesn't give Randy a lesson.
  • This is the first time when McFist and Randy work together to stop a threat.
  • Viceroy's ban from Whoopee World is lifted in this episode, after he was banned from visiting the amusement park in "Viva El Nomicon".
  • This episode shows that the Robo-Apes basically run and serve as the infrastructure for all of McFist Industries.
  • This episode shows that the Robo-Apes must swipe a wrist panel and convert to strike mode to go on strike against McFist, which is no longer available after the events of this episode.
    • Viceroy is also revealed in this episode to have implemented "Strike Mode", "Ape Mode" and many other modes for the Robo-Apes out of dissatisfaction, which he had to remove after the events of this episode, except for "Brownie Hound Suck-Up Mode".
  • The Brock Octane movie Preschool Sheriff, which is a play on the 1990 Arnold Schwarzeneggar film Kindergarten Cop, is playing at the McFist-O-Plex.
  • A sign hidden among the Robo-Apes says, "McFist Me!"
  • While the Robo-Apes are rampaging, one of them is typing out all of Hamlet on a word-processor; this is a reference to the so-called "Infinite Monkey Theorem."
  • The carousal in Whoopee World oddly has a "light speed" option.
  • This marks the third time Randy has cried.
  • Randy claimed to have defeated 70 Robo-apes off screen at the beginning of the episode. The scattered remains of multiple robots implies that Randy was true to his word.
