"Otto Know Better" is the thirteenth episode of the second season (and sixty-fifth episode overall) of Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. It premiered on October 10, 2014.

Synopsis[]

When Randy finds and falls in love with Viceroy’s beloved “pet” Otto, he refuses to give it back and puts Norrisville in danger.

Plot[]

It's "New Game Tuesday" at Greg's Game Hole, and both Randy and Howard are thrilled to play the new game, which is "Grave Puncher 10: Cab-normal Behavior". But Howard just has to bring up how Randy always hogs the new games, and worse, Greg's upstairs neighbor has some toilet issues which is affecting the newly imported arcade game Greg just brought in, just as the boys race to the new game.

Meanwhile, Otto and Viceroy are playing a game of "go fish", when McFist interrupts their fun by demanding Viceroy to manufacture more Ninja-destroying robots. Being the efficient scientist he is, Viceroy tells Otto to present McFist that he has already finished making the hordes of rowdy and uncontrollable Berserkers. McFist tries denying his own demand, to which Otto helps Viceory counter-argue with a recorded hologram of McFist saying such. Furious, McFist wrings Otto straight out of the McFist Industries' lab, which prompts Viceroy to go on strike out of severe sorrows.

As both Randy and Howard are still itching to play some games, Otto suddenly descends from the sky in a crash. It tries to fly, but due to having gotten damaged from the fall, it is unable to do so. Randy pokes Otto, which projects Viceroy's plea of putting Otto in any nearest McFist Industries pickup box. He originally is going to return Otto, but then decides to pry around with the robot, which, after showing the boys some complicated statistics and toxic dump sites locations, surprises them with its contained "Grave Puncher 10: Cab-normal Behavior". Unable to resist the temptation to play a video game, the boys rush to Randy's home to play with Otto, leaving Viceroy tearfully searching for Otto.

The bros continue playing with the Grave Puncher game, but they argue over turns again, and Howard storms off to the Game Hole alone. The Nomicon then shloomps and gives Randy a lesson on how "a Ninja's wants must not blind him to other's needs", although Randy misinterprets the lesson as to him supposedly giving Howard the share of the game. After seeing Howard's absence, he continues playing with Otto's other game Space Graves.

At Greg's Food Hole, Viceroy wistfully reminisces the good times he had with Otto, and both he and Howard rant about the other person they know -McFist for Viceroy, and Randy for Howard- being a huge jerk. McFist emerges with a makeshift Otto made from a bowling ball, to which Howard, who then pretends that he doesn't know the truth, and Viceroy to admit this decoy Otto is just hastily made. Knocking away the bowling ball out of McFist's hand, Viceroy rambles on how Otto maintains his sanity, and then he descends into insanity by ordering the Berserkers to tear the city down until Otto is found. Realizing the severity of the situation, Howard resorts to calling Randy.

Randy keeps playing Space Graves, when Howard urges him to return Otto and shows how the city is being torn apart by Berserkers because of the insane Viceroy. Of course, Randy still doesn't want to return Otto when performing his duties, so he tells Otto to stay behind, which Otto refuses and leaves through Randy's bedroom's opened window.

When Ninja finally starts dealing with the Berserkers, he notices that Otto has escaped. While he tries to knock out more Berserkers and chasing Otto, Viceroy has also found Otto, which prompts Viceroy to give chase as well. A Berserker's head hits Otto, who gets deflected several times, until Ninja rescues it from a bus's wheels. As Viceroy commands the other Berserkers to attack Ninja, Ninja finally realizes that his wants of playing video games have blinded Viceroy's needs to be happy and rational. Using his quick wits, Ninja uses the Otto bowling ball to distract the Berserkers into the nearest pickup box, and returns Otto back to the overjoyed Viceroy. Ninja decides to leave upon seeing how intimate Viceroy is with Otto, and afterwards Viceroy smugly tease McFIst through Otto again.

In the end, both boys agree stuff get weird in the Game Hole, and Randy apologizes to Howard, admitting that they should be taking turns to play games from now on. Unfortunately, the Grave Puncher game goes out of order again before Randy can have his turn, because of Greg's neighbor's unresolved toiler problem. In the meantime, McFist and Viceroy are back at McFist Industries to check on the lab after Otto is back at Viceroy's hands, but both men agree to back out after witnessing the Berserkers destroying the lab as the bowling ball Otto decoy rolls away.

Trivia[]

  • The title is a pun on the phrase "ought to know better."
  • It's revealed that Norrisville had hidden toxic dump sites used by McFist Industries.
  • Viceroy's robot assistant Otto has its first appearance since "Nukid on the Block."
  • When Viceroy hangs up Otto's missing poster, the language is written in Greek.
    • While most is simply gibberish, one sentence reads, "Where did my baby go?/ Where has my baby gone?"
  • Greg's Game Hole is revealed to import new games every Tuesday.
    • It is also revealed the Game Hole has an upstairs neighbor which isn't associated with it.
  • This episode take places on Tuesday, as mentioned by Randy and Howard's dialogues.
  • When Randy says "New games don't just fall from the sky," it is a possible reference to Farmer's Wife's lines of "Things that just going to fall out of the sky?" from Phineas and Ferb.
  • A prominent implication of Randy having ADHD is mentioned by Howard in this episode, which is how Randy tends to hog turns because he has difficulties waiting for his own, and it has also happened for more than once (see his trivia for more symptoms).
