"McFreaks" is the forty-second episode of the first season of Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. It premiered on November 2, 2013.

Synopsis[]

The McFreaks Show arrives in town and Randy is convinced that he wants a McFreak as a pet. But when the McFreaks go on a rampage, he realizes that wild animals don't really make the best pets.

Plot[]

At the Norrisville Pet Park, different pet owners let out their pets to play. Randy and Howard, however, are excluded since they don't have any pets. Wanting to enter the park with their monkey bikes, the boys decide to go to the McFreaks Show, where they devise the idea of stealing the McFreaks from the enclosure and keeping them as their own pets. Little do the boys know that these McFreaks are sprayed with a special elixir called "Odd Juice", made by Viceroy to force them to be calm, so McFist can exploit these animals for money.

Per Howard's temptation on using his Ninja abilities to free Barnabutt Jones, Randy submits to the demand, despite the Nomicon's lesson:

"What is wild, should not be caged"

By misinterpreting the lesson as him and Howard being wild is justified, Randy as the Ninja frees all four McFreaks, after a hiccup of accidentally setting off the alarm.

After spending a day with the four McFreaks in Randy's house, the bros take the McFreaks to the pet park the next day. However, things begin to go south as not only as the owners frightened and the pets angered, such as Theresa's mouse attacking Nine-arm Snake and Baranabutt Jones stealing Buttermaker's dog's Frisbee, the McFreaks' Odd Juice also wears off. While Viceroy and McFist return in shock to see the wreckage of the McFreaks Show, the owners and pets are starting to get assaulted by the now rowdy McFreaks.

The McFreaks, after stealing Slimovitz's car, begin thrashing Downtown Norrisville. Ninja attempts quelling them, but to no avail. But after Rondo squeezes a fart out of Ninja, Barnabutt Jones is the first to come to its senses and tells its fellow McFreaks to free the Ninja, who is considered to be their friend. Unfortunately, the four animals get captured by McFist and Viceroy soon after. Howard gets mad for missing out, and throws away his monkey bike into the trash can.

After Ninja is detained, he learns that Viceroy has been spraying Odd Juice to forcefully tame the McFreaks. Realizing the McFreaks deserve their freedom and like the Nomicon describes, shouldn't be caged, Ninja frees them and destroys the Odd Juice.

As both McFist and Viceroy escape from the McFreaks via an escape pod, Nine-arm Snake pilots the Hovercraft to Detention Island, only to crash-land. Ninja apologizes to the McFreaks for trapping them in an urban environment, before leaving them to live happily and free on where they belong. As for McFist and Viceory, they finally get to have a day without arguing with each other at PJ McFlubbusters.

Trivia[]

  • It is revealed that Buttermaker, Cynthia, Greg, Theresa Fowler, Morgan, and Principal Slimovitz have pets.
  • This episode confirms that Randy does not own a pet despite there being a dog house in his backyard.
  • Barnabutt Jones's name parodies that of the eponymous protagonist of the 1970s television detective series, Barnaby Jones, played by Buddy Ebsen (Jed Clampett from The Beverly Hillbillies).
  • The zookeeper Robo-Ape has no feet, similar to the tram Robo-Ape and the tour guide Robo-Ape.
  • Barnabutt Jones slides across the nood of a car which is a reference to the popular 1970s/80s TV series The Dukes of Hazzard.
  • A Wilhelm scream can be heard from a Robo-Ape when it gets destroyed by the Ninja.
  • Morgan is the only one who is angry instead of frightened by the rogue McFreaks, as she pursues Rondo (which she referred to it as "octo-bear") to retrieve her cat from the octo-bear rather than fleeing from the McFreaks like the other pet owners.
  • An implied ADHD symptom of Randy's is shown in this episode, when he interrupts Howard for several times without realizing, before Howard forces him to stop. (See more details in his trivia.)
  • Running Gags:
    • McFist thinking about relaxing at PJ McFlubbusters.
    • Howard wanting to split a monkey on his monkey bike.
