Synopsis[]

Randy and Howard must take care of a bologna “baby” for science class, and it mysteriously comes to life.

Plot[]

The scene begins with Randy dashing towards his classroom in a hurry and being tripped over the boney leg of the skeleton of Jerry Driscoll, but still manages to get to his seat. Mrs. Driscoll says that it is time for the students to learn how to take care of babies, and then gives each pair of students a piece of baloney, adding that they need to take care of it til the end of school to get a passing grade. Randy points out that it's a piece of baloney, not a baby, to which Mrs. Driscoll replies with, real babies miss their real parents. This causes Randy to start laughing, stating that she had finally lose her sanity. While Howard, too busy to care, treats the baloney like a real baby and calls it Sylvester Balone. Howard, in fact, shows confidence over their project, stating that he's got this. Randy questions his best friend's ability of being able to take care of the baby, but Howard strongly protests and starts holding his breath until Randy lets him show how he's "got this." Just then the Nomicon begins ringing for Randy, who enters the Nomicon where it gives him the lesson,

" Only when the student is willing to learn, will the teacher appear."

Randy thinks of the opposite of the meaning and believes that he's the teacher while Howard is the student, much to the Nomicon's frustration.

At McFist Industries in McFist's office, Mcfist is playing old games and not paying attention to Viceroy's new invention, Mood Juice, a source of unlimited power which can fuel any Ninja-destroying robot by feeding off of the hostility of those around it. He demonstrates by pouring a bit of it into a Fly Bot and having it fly around Mcfist after Viceroy deliberately ruins McFist's enjoyment for the swinging pendulums. Mcfist begins swatting at the Fly Bot, but his tantrums only makes it more violent. After having proven himself, Viceroy opened the window behind McFist and allows the fly to exit the building.

Meanwhile, Randy and Howard are sitting at a bench outside on campus. Randy tries to put a diaper on Sylvester, but it keeps falling out. Howard decides to do it himself but fails at it too. Stating he can only do it on himself, Howard begins to demonstrate while Randy laughs at the sight. Just then the Fly Bot makes its way to the school and starts causing havoc on the students, prompting Randy to become The Ninja while taking Sylvester with him to keep him safe. When the Ninja shows up to face the fly, it's revealed that flies don't bother Randy at all. No matter how much it lands on his face, Randy does not show any negative emotions. McFist and Viceroy are seen in a car watching the events unfold, and McFist begins yelling at Viceroy for making the one thing that doesn't bother the Ninja. Randy manages to catch the fly off guard and slice it with his sword, however the mood juice splashes all over Sylvester. After a brief moment of Randy laughing at Howard for wearing a diaper, he is unaware that the baloney has grown eyes.

Back at the classroom, the students are handing over their baloney babies over to Mrs. Driscoll for inspection. When it is Randy and Howard's turn, the teacher decides to do a more thorough inspection and sticks a thermostat into one of the ends of the baloney, which causes the now mutant baloney to transform into a large monster. It takes Mrs. Driscoll hostage and begins destroying the school. The Ninja shows up but finds himself unable to do any real damage to the baloney monster. The mutant baloney grows bigger and bigger until it crashes through the ceiling, which causes it let go of Mrs. Driscoll, who is caught by the Ninja. The monster begins to climb up to the top of the school, breaking through the floors. Randy catches the monster by his chain sickle and continues the fight on the roof, but is unable to think of any solution until he is reminded of his lesson. He decides to trust the Nomicon, but he let his guard down, resulting in him getting thrown through the ground, where he ends up back into the classroom, he sees Howard as well as the doodles and realizes the true meaning of the lesson.

After the Ninja admits his mistake on he was wrong and asks Howard how to solve this, Howard responds by stating that a lullaby was used by his mom to calm him down whenever he caused a tantrum during his childhood. The Monster had then grabbed Randy out of nowhere, brought him to the roof, Randy starts to calm Sylvester down but stops momentarily because he feels stupid, to which Sylvester shakes the Ninja violently. Howard then shows up and starts singing his own song to make Randy follow his lead, which works immediately. Sylvester shrinks back down to his original size after being lulled, and the Mood Juice then spills out of the baloney and tries to attack Randy, only for it to be destroyed by a Tengu fireball, before the Ninja smoke bombs away.

The episode ends with Randy and Howard having sandwiches with baloney, and Sylvester is seen cut in half inside a lunchbox, after Mrs. Driscoll mourns for Jerry's broken leg.

Trivia[]

  • The title is based on "Weird Al" Yankovic's My Bologna, which parodies My Sharona by The Knack.
  • The plot of this episode is similar to the Invader Zim episode "Bolognius Maximus", which was created by Jhonen Vasquez.
    • However, there are still differences between either episode' plots: Randy and Howard are taking care of a baby baloney that later mutated, while Zim and Dib were turned into actual bologna.
  • The name of Randy and Howard's baloney baby, Sylvester Balone, is a pun of the name of actor Sylvester Stallone.
  • The scene where Sylvester Balone climbs up onto the school roof and roaring, while holding Ninja hostage, is likely an allusion to King Kong's famous tower scene.
  • It's been revealed that Howard can put on a diaper all by himself.
    • Howard also revealed in this episode that his mom used to sing him to sleep whenever he as a baby was having tantrums.
  • Randy reveals in this episode that flies don't bother him. He is also shown to feel ticklish easily.
  • McFist is revealed to like playing with childish toys, such as Newton's cradle (pendulums), wooden marble maze, and ball in a cup, in this episode.
  • Theresa's Satchel reappears since "Sorcerer in Love 2: The Sorceress's Revenge".
  • Running Gag: McFist playing with his toys.
