"Julian's Birthday Surprise" is the fifth episode of the second season (and fifty-seventh episode overall) of Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. It premiered on September 30, 2014.

Synopsis[]

Randy brings the Sorcerer’s Ball to Julian’s magic-themed birthday party and accidentally unleashes its power.

Plot[]

Randy waits for Howard at the Magic Funporium. When it seems like his patience has reached its end, Howard shows up in his Uncle sledge's car. Then, he gets off while his uncle drives away from being chased by the cops.

Howard complains about attending Julian's birthday party and is surprised to see Randy carry a bag, which he constantly calls a purse and is shocked to learn that Randy had brought along the power ball due to his irrational fear of losing it, so the two argue about it through out the party.

Upon entering, they are greeted by Julian who shows interest in Randy's bag thinking that it was his present, but Randy distracts him by bringing up his birthday which Julian says it a magic birthday party. Julian then copies his magican idol Sinjin Kightfire and does a card trick only for Randy to tell him that he didn't pick a card. Howard then gives a mean comment which upsets Julian and he leaves for the bathroom crying.

Randy follows him and tries to comfort him much to his own dismay as Julian begin telling him why he likes magic. Fortunately for Randy, the Nomicon calls him, and Randy shloomps inside. Within the Nomicon, the Nomicon told Randy the story of how The Sorcerer came to be. After exiting, he becomes worried and thinks to place the ball back in his house but learns that his bag is gone. Panicking he looks everyway until he looks in the lost and found and finds Julian giggling creepily.

Randy manages to take his bag despite some resistance from Julian. He meets with Howard and informs him that they should leave but Howard insist that Randy admit that Howard was right during this argument. All exits had been closed by Knightfire saying to direct all the kids to his auditorium for his magic performance.

Having no choice, the two sit down and watch the performance. Just before starting, Sinjin backstage is met with Julian who had already fallen pray to the ball's influence and convinces Sinjin to begin with the magic trick of his choice and chooses Randy as a volunteer. During the performance, Julian's plan worked and managed to take the bag while Randy was preoccupied with the magic trick. Julian now with the Chaos Pearl in his hand went mad with power and started unleashing his powers on the stage bringing statute gargoyles to life as well as an executioner. Randy ninjas out and tries to reason with Julian but is unable to and fights the monsters which he is able to defeat while saving the other kids; however, he is caught by snake like creatures from a portal connected to the Land of Shadows.

Howard manages to save him by getting the power ball and trading it for the Ninja. Julian agrees and releases the Ninja after which Howard tosses the bag with Julian trying to catch it. The snake creatures grab the bag but Julian is still holding on to the bag tightly and is pulled into the portal, Ninja is able to grab his legs with his scarf and pulled him back.

Unbeknownst to Randy during the tug of war, Julian in split into two, just like what happened to the Sorcerer but this time shadow Julian is pulled into the land of shadows with the bag with normal Julian safe and sound.

Randy and Howard walk back home with Randy finally admitting that he shouldn't have brought the ball is disheartened to have lost the ball; however, Howard reveals that he had switched out the ball with a decapitated head of a gargoyle statue and placed it inside the bag. At the end, Shadow Julian opens the bag and finds the head instead of the ball and screams in frustration.
