Trivia

  • Howard has a habit of referring to certain other known characters by their last names.
    • The most prominent example of this is him referring to Randy as "Cunningham" most of the time. He also refers to Theresa as "Fowler", Debbie as "Kang", and Bucky as "Hensletter". Bash, despite having a surname, is by far one of the few exceptions for Howard to refer by first name, presumably due to Howard hating on him. Heidi and Mort are also among the exceptions, likely due to their familial relations with Howard.
      • Whenever Randy is being the Ninja, Howard calls him by the code name "Ninja" so other civilians won't suspect Randy's identity. However he did call Ninja "Cunningham" twice, in "Shloomp! There It Is!", when he was glad that his friend was back to normal, and in "The Space Cow-Bros" out of frustration.
    • However Howard doesn't do this to characters whose last names aren't revealed; namely Doug, Rachel, Julian, Morgan, Pradeep, Juggo and Dave.
      • For adults, he calls them by last names at best, like calling Mrs. Driscoll "Mrs. D"/"Ms. D"/"Driscoll" and Coach Green "Green", and more disrespectful names at worst, like calling Principal Slimovitz "P Slimmy" and "Slimmerz".
  • For his early concept designs, Howard had dark hair, but his final official design has the orange hair which Randy had previously in his concepts. Jhonen Vasquez stated in a tumblr post that Howard was originally a mix between some of his friends, horror movie/metal fans and Nick Frost.
  • Howard is the first character in the show to find out that Randy is the Ninja.
    • However, he is technically the second person to know Randy being the Ninja, since The Creep was the one who gave Randy the Nomicon in the first place.
  • He and Randy have a band named 30 Seconds to Math (which is a parody of 30 Seconds To Mars) in the episode of the same name and Unstank My Hart.
  • He does not like when someone jokes about his grave-punching skills, as shown in "House of 1,000 Boogers."
  • He had a unicorn doll named Uni, who got her head ripped off by Bash Johnson in "House of 1,000 Boogers."
  • He dislike sweating, as mentioned by Randy in "Monster Drill".
  • He explicitly says he prefers McFist Industries products at the Size 6 in "McFists of Fury".
  • Apparently he can't keep a secret, as he himself says in "Gossip Boy."
    • The same episode also revealed he hates the Whoopee World commercial song, because it is an earworm that gets stuck in his head.
      • He also revealed in said episode that he got his nickname "Double Dip" for always preferring double scoops of ice-cream.
  • He was dressed as Viceroy for Halloween in "Dawn of the Driscoll" and "Night of the Living McFizzles."
  • He was chosen to play the Ninja in "Monster Drill" by Principal Slimovitz.
  • He likes the school's cafeteria food even if it was made from roadkill.
  • In "Gossip Boy," he states that the Whoopee World commercial song gets stuck in his head whenever he hears it.
  • Howard slightly resembles his voice actor, Andrew Caldwell.
    • Andrew Caldwell stated in an interview that because he yelled all of Howard's lines, he often got headaches.
  • He likes to eat, as seen throughout the series.
  • "McFear Factor" revealed he has two favorite animal-themed festivals, the first one being Meow Madness, with Cluck-Fest being a close second.
    • He was also shown to be upset when, Meowly Cyrus, a large inflated cat balloon was popped, as shown in "Bro Money Bro Problems".
  • Howard usually calls Randy "Cunningham," only calling him "Randy" thirteen times in the series' run.
  • Howard has a complicated relationship with the Nomicon, who he always resents for occupying Randy's time for him.
  • He might have a slight crush on Morgan as seen in "Escape from Detention Island."
  • He is one of the only characters on the show so far to have a sibling, which is his older sister Heidi.
  • In the episode "Escape from Detention Island," it's shown that Howard is really good at making excuses.
  • In the episode, "Stanks Like Teen Spirit," Howard is seen to be considerably skilled at chess even though he has no idea what the chess pieces are called.
    • Also in this episode, he says "Chess-mate!" which provokes the chess-bot to correct him by saying "Check-mate."
  • "Ninja Camp" reveals he has his own credit card, the card's number and even confirms the show does indeed take place in the year 2013.
    • the card number is: 5555 5555 5555 5555
  • Howard has a lot of never-seen family members, who are mentioned in multiple episodes.
    • Uncle Sledge, who got arrested by the police likely during "Julian's Birthday Surprise".
    • Uncle Rod, who was mentioned in "House of 1,000 Boogers" to be "king of the Weinerman whomp" in his family.
    • Uncle Clive, who was mentioned via a flashback in "Evil Spirit Week" to be an embarrassing weirdo that dressed up as a turkey during Howard's own family thanksgiving.
      • In the same episode, he is also shown to have another uncle, who told him to ignore Uncle Clive and eat his turkey leg.
    • Cousin Vic, who was mentioned in "Shoob Tube" to be a good jumper and gymnast, although Howard is also aware that Randy isn't to fond of said Vic.
    • Uncle Nood, who was mentioned by Randy in "Fart-Topia" to have been imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit.
    • Uncle Boohai, who was mentioned in "Bro-ing Down the House" to be an avid traveler that tended to give Howard souvenirs from his trips. He likely stopped giving Howard any gifts after Howard lost the boomerang.
    • Cousin Sebastian, who was mentioned in "The Curse of Mudfart" to have survived through a sleepover as the sole survivor after telling the story of Mudfart.
    • Uncle Nooge, who was mentioned in "Mort-al Combat" to be an uncle who lives upstate.
  • In "Hip Hopocalypse Now" it's shown that Howard is allergic to dust.
  • Howard's recurring fear is running out of food, especially chicken-based foods; however, it is unknown if running out of food is his greatest fear.
  • In "Randy Cunningham and the Sorcerer's Key," he claims that an isosceles triangle doesn't exist and is something he made up. An isosceles triangle, that is, a triangle with two sides which are equal in length and also having two angles of the same measure, actually does exist.
  • Also in "Randy Cunningham and the Sorcerer's Key," after he helped Randy get the key, he also wanted a ninja mask, a sword, and a cape with his suit.
    • He temporarily became the Ninja in "The Ninja Identity"/"The Ninja Supremacy" after Randy accidentally mind-wiped himself. In those episodes, it is revealed that Howard is a terrible ninja.
    • During the latter episode, Howard got his own version of the theme song, failing to sing along with the lyrics.
  • In "Enter the Nomicon," he dressed up as a girl, the first (and by far, only) character to cross-dress in the series.
  • McFist actually said Howard reminded him of himself in "McSatchlé" when he saw Howard conning other McFist-O-Plex employees.
    • This line from McFist about Howard in "McSatchlé" is likely a hint to McFist's implied past revealed in Secrets of the 9.
  • According to a Tumblr post by RC9GN animatic editor Nico Colaleo, Howard is Jewish.
    • Since he does not keep his head covered, he is not an Orthodox Jew; he may be Reform or Conservative, but he is most likely non-practicing (though his family does celebrate Hanukkah, he has no idea of its religious or historical significance).
  • He got a McFistPad in "Raiders of the Lost Nomicon," which has since been revealed to have been destroyed, as seen in "Weinerman Tested, Cunningham Approved."
  • He thinks that word "duty" is funny and laughs every time when he hears it.
  • As of "All the Juice That's Fish to Swim," he is no longer being considered by Debbie Kang as the true identity of the Ninja, making him one of the first knocked off her list.
  • Howard goes through Randy's underwear drawer, as revealed in "Julian's Birthday Surprise".
    • In fact, Howard often uses and borrows Randy's underwear, and at one point, Howard has Randy's underwear for a month (mentioned in "Silent Punch, Deadly Punch").
  • The boys' lockers often switch around but the placement remains the same, Howard and Randy's lockers are always on the staircases side.
  • It was revealed by the 9gn tumblr that Howard doesn't know Randy's birthday or that he is 14.
  • Oddly enough Howard's locker had a trench coat in it in "Randy Cunningham's Day Off" and "Ninjception" but it looked nothing like the one he used previously in "McOne Armed and Dangerous".
  • His last name is a Yiddish surname meaning "man from Vienna"; the Austrian capital was well-known for its large Jewish population. "Weiner," of course, also is a variant of "wiener," a hot-dog or sausage, and is also a slang word for "a weak, lazy, cowardly person who refuses to participate, particularly in sports or dangerous activities" (as in the phrase, "to wiener out") or simply "an annoying person." "Howard" may hint at "coward".
    • However, the name Howard can actually mean "high defender" or "chief guardian", which highlights his importance as Randy's best friend.
  • As revealed in "Bro-ing Down the House," Howard didn't know what a boomerang is. When Randy was hit by a boomerang in the face, Randy thought that Howard knows what a boomerang is; however, he still forgets it.
  • Apparently his birthday is May 18th (Randy's is still unknown). This would make Howard a Taurus, which astrologically would supposedly indicate a stocky, bull-necked physique, and stubborn, stolid, and rather sensual character.
  • His stocky body size is likely inherited from his mom, as implied by Heidi's materialized fear in "McFear Factor".
  • In "When Howie Met Randy" Howard was six years old with the year being 2005, implying that like Randy, he was also born on the year 1999.
    • He and Randy are also only born a few months apart, with Howard possibly being slightly older than Randy due to him reaching 15 earlier.
  • Neither he nor Randy were ever stank'd, though Howard has transformed into a monster by other means, e.g., being possessed by the Tengu or being mutated by Soupsicles.
  • "Sorcerer in Love 2: The Sorceress's Revenge" revealed he has a poor sense of direction.
  • He and Randy held the record of "best buds" defending champions for six years until it was broken in "Best Buds".
    • The same episode also revealed that he has low spice tolerance.
  • "Ninjafan" revealed that Howard is so overdependent on Randy, he can't remember how to go home on his own or use his own money to pay for food.
    • However the same episode also showed that when push comes to shove, he can be pushed to learn how to survive on his own, such as building an entire treehouse for himself.
  • He prefers calling his father by name instead of "dad".
    • In "Club Ninja-dise", he also admits he only kind of likes his dad, unlike his dad who loves him greatly.
  • He has strong monophobia, which is the irrational fear of being alone. This is mentioned in "Flume-Igation" by himself about having issues being alone, shown in "Randy Cunningham's Day Off", where he has an exaggeratedly negative vision of him eating lunch alone, and "True Bromance", where he tries to make himself less lonely with mooching off Dave, Pradeep and Bucky Hensletter.
  • "Weinerman Tested, Cunningham Approved" revealed he once had a McFist-brand hamster, but it died due to his curse of him being extremely destructive.
  • In "Welcome Back Catfish", he has a very disgusting story about booger that is gross enough to make Randy gag, including a stanked Catfish Booray when Randy later retells the story to him.
  • Howard, along with Mort Weinerman in "On the Poolfront", is revealed to have the disgusting habit of swimming in a pool with sweat, as they can't afford to build a proper outdoor pool.
  • He has two episodes named after him in his last name, which are "Weinerman Up" and "Weinerman Tested, Cunningham Approved", although both of these episodes only mention his surname.
  • He revealed in "M-M-M-my Bologna" that his mom used to sing him to sleep whenever he as a baby was having tantrums.
  • "The Space Cow-Bros" revealed that like McFist, Howard doesn't know how to pronounce gravity properly.
    • The same episode also marks Howard as one of the characters who have their birthdays celebrated in the series, the other being Julian.
  • A shabbily made craft from Howard can be seen more his father Mort's desk in "Mort-al Combat", likely made by him when he was younger.
  • Howard and Randy have a special friendship handshake with each other, which they perform by slapping each other's hands, then jump up and spin for a while, before posing together.
  • Both Howard and Randy met each other when they, as three-year-olds, were both put into the Weinermans household's bathtub as a playdate by their respective parents ("When Howie Met Randy").
  • Throughout the series, Howard is seen crying three times.
