"Everybody Ninj-along" is the tenth episode of the second season (and sixty-second episode overall) of Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. It premiered on October 2, 2014.

Synopsis[]

When Bucky creates a Ninja theme song that Ninja can’t stand, Ninja’s attempts to shut it down only makes it more popular.

Plot[]

The story opens with the Ninja already in the midst of a battle against a Honey Badger Bot, when Bucky suddenly thinks it is a good idea to sing an improvised song by himself. The Ninja considers the song extremely cringeworthy and distracting, but since everyone is playing along and Bucky is pleading him, the Ninja is afraid of confronting Bucky, and pretends to like the song before smoke-bombing out and leaving Bucky behind.

Afterwards, Howard chastises Randy for being an Agreeable Alan, which is being a huge pushover. Randy defensively disagrees with Howard calling him out and shloomps into the Nomicon as he runs away. Inside the Nomicon, Randy is given the lesson

"The Ninja who avoids a battle ends up fighting a war"

meaning that if he avoids a battle, he'll be facing a war. As usual, Randy takes the lesson at face value, and Nomicon gets mad and vloomps him out again.

Later, the Ninja arrives at the cafeteria to handle a Slug Bot, but this time Bucky has assembled more of the band geeks and even Debbie to play the song. Due to the distracting song, the Ninja is unable to concentrate and keep floundering during the battle, which amuses Viceroy but McFist is more interested in the cringey song. Bucky decides to go for round two, so the Ninja throws a Bee Ball in hopes of the bees stopping Bucky, only for the bees to join in the song. The Ninja barely manages to defeat the Slug Bot with some salt, which is a slug's weakness, though McFist is too engrossed in the song to notice such.

Due to Randy's inaction towards not liking Bucky's song, this gives McFist and Viceroy an opportunity to plan an attack through Bucky's performance at the amphitheater. Randy originally wants to tell Bucky the truth, until Howard distracts him and tells him that he's joining the performance. The performance drives Ninja Randy's nerves to the wall so badly, he finally lashes out at Bucky, who subsequently gets emotionally destroyed. In fact, Ninja's outburst ends up ruining everybody's enjoyment.

Almost immediately after everyone gets mad at him for ruining the show, the Ninja is trapped onstage and surrounded by Amp-Bots. Realizing the performance is a trap set up by McFist, Ninja Randy finally understands the lesson is about confronting the truth as soon as possible before the situation worsens. To amend for his own mistake, Ninja begs Bucky to sing the cringe song, not because he likes it but because he needs it for the rhythm. Bucky is hesitant at first, but soon is overjoyed that his song is finally and genuinely accepted by the Ninja. Thanks to the song's cringey rhythm, Randy smoothly deals with all of the Amp-Bots before a quick exit, and Bucky is also appreciated. The only ones disappointed are Viceroy, and more importantly, McFist.

In the end, Randy finally admits the Nomicon is right after having to fight in a war against amps and lasers. He then wonders why Bucky is not singing the song anymore as it actually starts growing on him, to which Howard tells him that everybody else is just bored of that song now. As Howard continues mocking Randy, the actual character of Agreeable Alan himself appears on screen, saying goodbye to the viewers as the boys continue bantering.

Trivia[]

  • The episode title is a pun to the phrase "everybody sing-along."
  • It's shown that Debbie Kang knows how to play the fiddle, Theresa Fowler knows how to play the keyboard, and Pradeep can play the bongos.
  • Rudd Rhymez and Tiny Timmy Scratch-It appear in this episode for the first time since their premiere in "Hip Hopocalypse Now."
  • Bucky, who wrote a song in "Silent Punch, Deadly Punch" for Flute Girl, writes his second song to Norrisville Ninja.
  • Howard makes up two cartoon characters in this episode, "Agreeable Alan" and "Bandwagon Bill" (three, if one counts the rabbit who torments Agreeable Alan).
    • However Agreeable Alan reveals himself to be real in the end of the episode. He also breaks the fourth wall to meet the viewers.
      • Agreeable Alan, judging by his appearance, is likely a parody of Cecil Turtle from Looney Tunes.
  • Julian does not wear his hat in one of the scenes in this episode.
  • Bucky is lucky enough to not get stanked in this episode, as The Sorcerer was presumably hibernating.
  • During the scene when Bucky is performing with the other students, Theresa's uniform's sleeves aren't colored in its usual blue.
