"Bro-ing Down the House" is the twenty-second episode of the second season (and seventy-fourth episode overall) of Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. It premiered on March 16, 2015.[1]

Synopsis[]

Even though he knows he shouldn’t, Randy breaks into McFist’s empty house to retrieve a lost boomerang, putting himself and Howard in grave danger.[1]

Plot[]

After Howard receives a boomerang from his uncle Boohai, he vents at Randy on how his uncle gave him a stupid crooked stick. Randy prompts him to throw the boomerang so he would know what it is, only for the boomerang to get stuck on the rooftop of McFist Mansion. Thus, Randy and Howard arrive at the mansion to retrieve it, since McFist has gone out to travel for the weekend with Marci, and that Howard tells him that Uncle Boohai will stop giving him souvenirs if he finds out Howard has lost the boomerang during the Weinermans' family dinner next weekend.

Unable to resist Howard's plea on wanting to get a Canadian gift from Uncle Boohai, Randy submits to Howard's request. As soon as Ninja retrieves the boomerang, both he and Howard, who trespassed through the unlocked front door, are distracted by the jumping pit. The Nomicon then shloomps Ninja to give him a lesson:

"Don't go in someone else's house."

However, after having to always decipher the Nomicon's cryptic lessons with difficulties, Randy actually thinks the Nomicon is playing with riddles as usual, much to the Nomicon's frustration.

Soon. Randy and Howard horse around in the mansion, from go-karts to arcade games. Unbeknownst to them, Viceroy, who is breaking McFist's rule by staying in the mansion to watch Brock Octane's "There's Someone in the House" movie series, has armed the residence with Cowboy Bots. Paranoid, Viceroy activates all of the Cowboy Bots, believing that they are the mysterious villains from the movie he's watching. Realizing Viceroy is in the mansion, the boys scurry away to a random room in order to escape, only to encounter the Cowboy Bots who ruthlessly attack them.

While Ninja is fighting against one of the Cowboy Bots, Viceroy gets even more terrified and rushes into the McPanic Room for comfort. As Ninja tells Howard about the Nomicon's lesson, Howard chides him for misinterpreting as usual. Just as both boys are about to leave through the front door, Ninja realizes the mansion is wired with security cameras, and figures that McFist would learn that he is the Ninja as he transformed earlier in the cowboy robots' room. As the robots finally catch up, Ninja has to battle against them. After Ninja drops the boomerang, Howard finally remembers it, only to forget about it again as he is now disinterested in it now, much to Ninja's exasperation. When one of the Cowboy Bots catches him, Ninja urges Howard to wring the boomerang, which saves Ninja but also ends up making it fly away again.

Right after Randy de-transforms and is ready to escape with Howard, Viceroy and Otto exit the McPanic Room to witness the mess they made. Having finally understood Nomicon's lesson on "no trespassing", Randy uses Viceroy's argument on exposing him and Howard against Viceroy himself by asking if Viceroy is allowed to even stay in the mansion, after observing Viceroy's robe and slippers, which actually belong to McFist and Marci respectively. Realizing he's been outwitted by two teenagers, Viceroy panics on the prospect of being busted to his unethically tyrannical boss and implores the boys not to do so. As both boys blackmail him to erase the security footage, Viceroy reveals that he always turns off the security cameras the moment McFist leaves, although his lame joke about "rodeo" bores the boys out.

In the end, when the boys are returning to their homes after cleaning McFist Mansion, Howard is bummed out that he'll no longer be receiving gifts from Uncle Boohai after losing the boomerang, to which Randy tries reassuring his best friend with how the boomerang might return soon. Unfortunately, the boomerang never returns to Howard, and only crashes into McFist's newly bought vase for Marci, before breaking itself after hitting McFist's limo. McFist ends the episode by exclaiming in shock at the sight of the broken boomerang that crashed onto his limo.

Trivia[]

  • The title is a pun on the 1983 song "Burning Down the House" by the Talking Heads.
  • This episode was advertised to air on Disney XD Southeast Asia before it aired in the US, but it wasn't aired and instead was replaced by the premiere of "Randy Cunningham's Day Off."
  • Another relative of Howard's, Uncle Boohai, is revealed.
    • Uncle Boohai likely has stopped giving Howard souvenirs after knowing that Howard lost the boomerang in this episode.
  • McFist, as mentioned by Viceroy in this episode, is revealed to have own peacocks and piranhas as exotic pets.
    • Viceroy is also revealed to have stayed in the McFist Mansion for several instances, whenever McFist and Marci are out travelling. He usually hides in the mansion's McPanic Room whenever he is frightened, and has also armed the mansion with his robots.
  • This is the second episode mostly without background characters, The first was "Ninjception".
    • However, McFist and Marci appear near the end of the episode.
  • This is by far the only time the Nomicon has given Randy a straightforward lesson.
  • This is one of the very few instances where Viceroy doesn't interact with McFist for the majority of the events in an episode, the others being "Wonkin' for the Weekend", "Escape from Scrap City" and "McCluckerbusters".
  • Howard, as revealed in this episode, states he is averse to being carried by Randy, as this act makes both of them awkward mostly on his end unless it is done during an emergency or escape.
    • This is previously hinted in "Sorcerer in Love", where both boys were also uncomfortable after realizing they were doing the carrying under a trance.
  • Howard is shown to have zero knowledge about boomerangs in this episode.
  • An implied ADHD symptom of Randy is shown in this episode, which is when he gets immediately distracted from his task to retrieve Howard's Boomerang after seeing the mansion's bouncing pit. (See more details in his trivia.)
  • Running Gag: Howard forgetting the word boomerang, and instead calling it a crooked stick.
