Hey y'all, I know this thread is a bit dead but I would like to clear up something. Although the series has been off the air for almost six years now I want you guys to know that the series technically wasn't cancelled formally speaking. Disney never stated the series was cancelled nor did the series creators state they were done. You could say it was cancelled realistically speaking since of course we were left on a cliffhanger, didn't get a proper ending, the writers didn't end off the way they had intended, etc... Anyway for a real proper answer of the status of the series here's what it is. Disney hadn't truly cancelled the show, they still are hush hush about its status to this day but they didn't renew it either. If anything the status of the series now would be in a state of limbo or on an indefinite hiatus, a better way of looking at things. That is your real answer, the series is basically on a very long break with no way of knowing if it will return one day but again, the longer a show goes off the air the less likely it'll return. But moving forward there are many hints why fans would speculate the show was cancelled. Here's would I have come up with adding some research of sorts...
1) "Ball's Well that Friends Well" was never promoted as the series finale if anything a regular episode. If it was intended to be the series finale, the actors and crew would've heavily promoted it but it wasn't.
2) Looking at posts made by Ben Schwartz in 2014 on his website, he stated that on July of the same year they had wrapped production of Season 2's finale; he never referred it as the series finale. He also thanked fans and people BTS for the ability to create 100 episodes. Not once in his post did he state or mention anything regarding the series' end. I believe his post would've been a lot longer and sincere if the lather was the case.
3) In the episode "Bro Money, Bro Problems" at the near end Randy and Howard are rapping and one point in the rap Randy says the line, "Season three, H and Me, Gonna hafta wait and see" implying the anticipation of the people working on the show hoping for a third season. Ironically they weren't obviously renewed.
These are just a few but I'd like to list two shows that went through something like this too,
1) PowerPuff Girls (reboot)
The most recent episode that aired was on June 16, 2019 nearly two years ago. The episode was a regular episode and promoted as one. It was also the season finale of season three although not promoted as one. It has been up in the air for some time but those working behind the series and voice actors have all moved onto other projects. CN never announced its cancellation but again they didn't renew them either. Therefore this series is also in a state of limbo but fans have concluded it was cancelled since now with the upcoming CW live-action series. There hasn't been news on the show since.
2) Lab Rats Elite Force
Before the finale aired, fans were anticipated for the announcement of a second season. Months after waiting since the finale, the news never came. Like the previous two, the finale episode was never promoted as a series finale; not even a season finale, just a regular. Although Disney never broke the news, the series creators and cast confirmed they were not renewed for a second season and to date it is unknown why. Many suspect it's due to low ratings which is plausible but seems unlikely as to why Disney would go through the trouble to ending Mighty Med and having them merge with the Lab Rats to be one only to cancel that spin-off because of ratings? The reason why this series is considered in a state of limbo is because again, Disney hadn't announced its cancellation and second we were left on a massive cliffhanger that four years later has yet to be resolved. They created a conjoined universe with fans on both ends and set the bar high for a second season that would never come. No news of this has come since. The series creators placed the status of the show as on a hiatus, one that many are unsure they will return from.
These two had near identical occurrences as RC9GN which is why I compare them but without much else to cover, might as well consider this show on a prolonged hiatus.
